Read Island was selected by the Colorado Humanities' Center for the Book as one of three finalists for the Colorado Book Award for Children's Literature this week!

Wow! What a tremendous recognition - earning the Spark Honor is especially sweet because it is awarded by the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators for a children’s book published through a non-traditional publishing route. That's a mouthful, but this little seal of approval says it all.

I likely have recommended Markus Zusak's novel The Book Thief to you before - it's in my top 5 books of all time. Well, what a pleasure it was to discuss it in detail with Jody Lee Mott on his podcast, Dream Gardens. Listen here, and if you haven't yet, go read the book!
